Villa overview

Nestled amongst the ancient ruins of Noto Antica and the spectacular Sicilian countryside this property leaves guests feeling like they stepped back in time. Noto Antica dates back to the pre 1693 Netum where there are ruins of the old city, a sublime combination of Sikel's necropolis dug into the rocks and16th century buildings.

This property has been nicely renovated and decorated by a local artist, her work is reflected throughout the house and includes a hand painted/stencilled wall in the main bedroom. Ideal for two people, there is one double bedroom and one bathroom with Shower. In the study there is also a double sofa bed available for two extra guests. The large open plan living area and kitchen is bright and colourful and offers lovely views of the surrounding valleys and garden. The living area is complete with flat screen TV, DVD and Sky as well as Table Football and a freestanding pellet burning stove for the cooler months. There is a large furnished terrace with barbecue where the gorgeous views can be enjoyed.

The area

Situated only ten minutes from Noto, perhaps the most fascinating of the 18th century Baroque cities of Sicily. Not only listed as a world heritage site by UNESCO but also nicknamed the Capital of Baroque and home to the lovely ‘Infiorata’ flower festival held every May. The surrounding vineyards produce an exquisite dessert wine, ‘Moscato di Noto’.

The Vendicari nature reserve (20 minutes) is a gem for all nature lovers and offers spectacular long sandy beaches. Siracusa is only a 30 minute drive away and a visit to its ancient quarter ‘Ortigia’ and Greek ruins is a must. Also nearby is Cava Grande, a spectacular gorge and the deepest canyon in Europe: a series of rock pools, waterfalls and ancient cave-homes. The areas of Pachino ( famous for cherry tomatoes) and Potopalo are very interesting places to visit. It is here that you will find the southernmost point of Sicily the little ‘Isolotto delle correnti’, with a lighthouse and where sea turtles and pelicans can still be frequently spotted on the shore.
