Villa overview

Although only minutes from Noto and 30 kilometers from Siracusa it is has no immediate neighbours and offers its visitors a chance to completely escape and relax. The building has an interesting history dating back to its original construction in the 13th century when it was built as a watch-tower.

The renovation has been very mindful of the original characteristics of the building and the interior design is unique and charming with beautiful stone walls throughout. The interior is open plan with a very high ceiling in the living room and the bedroom area is located on a mezzanine level. The dining area seats six and there is a small but well equipped kitchen area. The bathroom is entered from the living area and has a shower, sink and toilet.

Although the building is not large, the high ceiling gives it a spacious feeling and there is a sofa bed in the lounge making it possible to sleep four. The living area has an air-conditioning unit and a television and stereo.

There is a staircase leading from the mezzanine level up to a roof top terrace which has stunning views. The terrace in front of the property provides a comfortable, shaded outside eating area. There is also an outside shower.

Swimming pool size 6,70m x 3,66m.

The area

Situated only minutes from Noto, perhaps the most fascinating of the 18th century Baroque cities of Sicily. Not only listed as a world heritage site by UNESCO but also nicknamed the Capital of Baroque and  home to the lovely ‘Infiorata’ flower festival held every May. The surrounding vineyards produce  an exquisite dessert wine, ‘Moscato di Noto’.

The Vendicari nature reserve (20 minutes) is a gem for all nature lovers and offers spectacular long sandy beaches. Siracusa is only a 30 minute drive away and a visit to its ancient quarter ‘Ortigia’ and Greek ruins is a must.  Also nearby is Cava Grande, a spectacular gorge and the deepest canyon in Europe: a series of rock pools, waterfalls and ancient cave-homes.  The areas of pachino ( famous for cherry tomatoes) and Potopalo are very interesting places to visit. It is here that you will find the southernmost point of Sicily the little ‘Isolotto delle correnti’, with a lighthouse and where sea turtles and pelicans can still be frequently spotted on the shore.
