Villa overview

Casa Catena is one of five individual apartments that makes up this residence. Situated on a hillside position the coastal views are lovely and the  seaside towns including Acitrezza are close by. The entire residence dates back to the early 17th century and has been remarkably renovated into a charming holiday abode that ensures privacy, peace and quiet and comfort for its guests. Superbly designed and furnished using selected antiques and modern furniture, fine fabrics and local materials such as lava stone, ceramic and terracotta tiles. Each apartment has its own separate covered terrace and/or garden area for outdoor living. The Shared pool (9x4m) is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the nice sea views. The very pleasant owner, who also lives on site is on hand to offer his local knowledge and assistance. It is also possible for larger groups to occupy the entire residence. The pool is open to guests between 9:00 - 19:00.

Casa Catena offers an open plan living-dining room with its stone kitchen opening onto the living room. There is one double bedroom and a small single bedroom and one bathroom with two entrances.  There is also a lovely terrace and small garden area.

The area

This stretch of coast mentioned in Homer's Odyssey as 'Riviera of the Cyclops' offers beautiful and varied landscapes and places to discover, such as the pretty fishing villages of Acicastello, Acitrezza, Santa Maria la Scala and Santa Tecla.

Also nearby is Acrieale, an atmospheric little city, perched between Etna and the sea. The maze of tiny jasmine-scented streets in the centre is often used as a film set and the Baroque buildings are particularly interesting. The Baroque atmosphere is captured perfectly in Acrieale's Cathedral square. The San Sebastian church, the Zelantea art gallery and the theatre of the Puppets Opera are just some of the fabulous places to visit. Acrieale is also home to the wonderful annual carnival that attracts visitors from all over the world.

A short drive will take you to the glorious Mount Etna, bustling Catania, and Taormina with its fabulous Greek theatre. The ancient Siarcusa and Noto are also not too far away and make for a perfect day trip out.
