Sciacca is a seaside town with a picturesque fishing harbour. Above Sciacca is Monte Kronio which has caves with stream vapours, know since Roman times, and now a thermal spa.
Agrigento is 60km away and lies on the site of an ancient acropolis overlooking a valley which stretches towards the sea, in the midst of which stand the remarkable Greek temples. The temples are a World Heritage site, and the archaeological area is a regional park. The valley of the Temples is particularly nice to visit in Springtime when the almond trees are in bloom.
The coast between Sciacca and Agrigento is particularly nice. Take the road that follows the lovely meandering river valley passing through the gorgeous countryside and many vineyards and you will reach Eraclea Minoa. The stretch of coast here is sublime, a wooded shore with vanilla-coloured sand for miles.
Other places to visit include Menfi where the beaches have been awarded for their quality and the Pelagian Islands (Lampedusa, Linosa and Lampione) . Palermo the bustling capital is 100km away.
