Caucana
Although only a mile from the beach, you may never wish to venture further than the expansive poolside area of this renovated farmhouse.
The house surrounds a stone-walled courtyard with a large central shade tree and numerous pots of brightly coloured flowers. The large and beautifully appointed kitchen opens onto the courtyard. The central cooking island is tiled with lava stone from Mt. Etna. The living and dining areas are large and comfortable and furnished with many authentic memorabilia. The antique stone floors and thick walls ensure the house stays cool even on the hottest summers day. A stone staircase leads up to another living area with a double bedroom, a bathroom and a large terrace which boasts a very attractive sea view. In addition, there is an adjoining apartment comprised of a large kitchen and dining area, a small living room, two double and one twin bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Outside, the courtyard is a lovely area to dine or simply relax in and enjoy this once farmhouse. The pool area can be reached via an underground passage from the courtyard or by exiting the courtyard and going through the garden gates opposite (the pool can easily be closed off from children). The Swimming pool is surrounded by a lovely green garden full of typical flora and well equipped with outdoor furniture, shower and a nice shaded area complete with cooking facilities.

The white sandy beaches of Caucana, Punta Secca and Marina di Ragusa are only a few miles away. The towns of Ragusa Ibla, Modica and Scicli are an extraordinary example of baroque architecture and at only a 20 minute drive away offer a great excuse to explore the endless mazes of mysterious, inviting and little cobbled streets.
Also nearby is Camarina, an archaeological park with a very interesting archaeological museum, on the site of an important Greek city. The Castle of Donnafugata is a short and pleasant drive through lovely countryside and passes numerous farms. At the castle you can take a tour, visit its exotic gardens or get lost in the stone labyrinth.
Siracusa, Noto (European capital of baroque) and Catania are all within easy reach and make a perfect day trip out.
