Villa overview

Casa Mongiove is a beautiful, recently restored farmhouse situated in the small ancient town of Patti on the northern coast of Sicily. Converted from an old wine storage barn, this property overlooks a communal courtyard. Just beyond the courtyard is a path that leads to a nice sandy beach. Inside, the property has been stylishly refurbished. There are two cosy bedrooms, one double and one twin and two bathrooms with showers. The living/dining room is spacious and bright with a kitchen area that opens onto a delightful terrace. There is also a double sofa bed available for two additional guests. This is an excellent base for visiting some of the most interesting places the island has to offer. From the Aeolian Islands to the old town centres of Taormina and Cefalù, from the close archeological site of Tindari and the Marinello nature reserve to the typical towns Mount Etna and the Nebrodi Park.

The area

Patti is a small Sicilian town situated on the northern coast of Sicily, 65 Km away on the western side of Messina. Here, the coast offers both beautiful sandy beaches and a rocky shoreline. There are endless nearby attractions to visit including the Norman Cathedral, the ruins of the Roman Villa with its precious mosaics, the ceramic Museum; Tyndaris - an ancient Roman-Greek town founded in 396 B.C. - whose important archaeological site still maintains the original Greek Theatre, the Basilica, the thermal baths and the ruins of the ancient walls; the Natural Reserve of Marinello with its sand dune and salt water lakes and marine caves. There are also many interesting festas and cultural events to attend including "la processione delle varette" (a religious parade taking place on the Holy Friday), the "Tindari Festival" which includes literary, musical and ballet performances performed in the Greek theatre of Tindari during the summer months of July and August; the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows - with its eccentric sea parade and popular street games - occurring in the second weekend of September. The Aeolian Islands (connections from Milazzo and Capo d'Orlando), Milazzo is 30 Km away, Taormina is 100 Km away, the Aetna is 130 Km away, Catania is 150 Km away, Cefalù is 110 Km away, Palermo is 160 Km away, Siracusa is 200 Km away, Agrigento is 240 Km away.
